Dr Michelle Morris graduated from the University of Queensland in 1994 and underwent training in Medical Oncology at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. She also completed further studies to obtain a Masters in Public Health from the University of Queensland in 2004. 

 

Dr Morris worked as a Medical Oncologist for Cancer Research UK in Leeds before returning to Australia in 2005 to take up a consultant specialist position on the Sunshine Coast.  Dr Morris has worked in private practice on the Sunshine Coast since 2007, founding Coastal Cancer Care in 2012 with the vision of providing personalised, high quality evidence based care to patients. She held a senior staff specialist position with Queensland Health for 20 years, consulting at Nambour General Hospital, Gympie Hospital and Sunshine Coast University Hospital, before resigning that position in 2024 to focus on her private practice. 


Dr Morris has worked passionately to improve clinical trial access for cancer patients on the Sunshine Coast, and has attracted over 60 clinical trials to the Sunshine Coast as principal investigator.  With her colleagues at Coastal Cancer Care, she has developed a thriving early phase clinical trial unit at Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital.  She has published and presented extensively particularly in the areas of breast and urological cancers.  Dr Morris was been a member of a number of cancer planning and quality committees, including as Chair of the Cancer Alliance Queenland Breast Cancer Subcommittee for 5 years.  She has been active in promoting quality multidisciplinary care, working in collaboration with colleagues from other specialties to provide patients with the best quality, coordinated management plan for their individual situation.

 

Dr Morris has experience in treating a broad range of solid tumour malignancies, with areas of interest including breast cancer, melanoma, and gynaecological and urological malignancies.

 

Dr Morris consults at Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital, as well as Noosa and Gympie clinics.
