Dr Harry Gasper is devoted to providing care in cancer with a focus on the individual needs of patients and their loved ones. He marries commitment to the latest advances in the field with a keen awareness of the impact of cancer on the lives of his patients and their families. 

 

Harry studied medicine at King’s College London, graduating in 2011. During this time, he also completed a Bachelor of Science - Physiology (Honours) degree. He migrated to Australia in 2013 to continue his career, working in Newcastle and Sydney before making the move to Queensland. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2019 with specialisation in Oncology. Following this, he took a job as Clinical Research Fellow at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where he was a part of award-winning research looking into the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on cancer care services and staff. He has continued to be keenly involved with research of all kinds and has multiple per-reviewed publications. He also has experience as a principal investigator on clinical trials, a member of research consortia and original research projects investigating survivorship.

 

Prior to working at Coastal Cancer Care, Dr Gasper was Clinical Director of Medical Oncology at Toowoomba Hospital. During his tenure he helped pioneer expansion of clinical trials, tele-oncology, and education in the Darling Downs Region. He also built valuable clinical experience across a range of tumours, including lung, breast, skin, and prostate, with a special focus on gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and CNS cancer. He chose to make the move to the Sunshine Coast with his wife and their two children to fulfil a long-held dream of living close to family in the region.

 

Dr Gasper is committed to improving outcomes for patients with a holistic approach. Outside of clinical practice, he is a member of statewide networks in survivorship and was recently appointed to the executive committee of the Queensland Consortium for Cancer Survivorship. He is Vice-President of the board of Hope Horizons Cancer Wellness Centre in Toowoomba. In 2024 he was also invited to join the organising committee of the COSA Annual Scientific Meeting.
